The Herbalist’s Approach

Many people are surprised that a consultation with a medical herbalist is so “medical”, but it is not surprising when you consider that medical herbalists train for four years and, alongside their herbal studies, they learn diagnostic skills underpinned by a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology. They are also trained to recognize “red flag” signs and symptoms for which referral to a specialist would be appropriate. Where they differ from doctors is that they take a holistic approach to illness – the aim is always to treat the whole person and to correct the underlying imbalances which have given rise to the condition in the first place.
